Welcome!

A message from Joseph L. Bast
President, The Heartland Institute

Dear Friends:

On Thursday, October 2, The Heartland Institute will celebrate
the 24th anniversary of its founding with a lively and fun reception and dinner with speakers at the Hilton Chicago Hotel. I hope you can join us!

This year’s topic is: “Immigration Policy for a Free Society." Our speakers will be Jacob G. Hornberger, founder and president of The Future of Freedom Foundation, and Peter Brimelow, a financial journalist and author of Alien Nation: Common Sense About America’s Immigration Disaster.

Prior to dinner this year, comedian Tim Slagle will get us laughing with his hilarious insights into the news of the day. Tim’s recent comedy album, “Europa,” has been getting extensive air time and gets five stars on Amazon. “The bottom line is that Europa is partly educational, primarily humorous and undoubtedly brave—like most good comedy should be,” says Punchline Magazine.

This year’s dinner once again takes place at the historic Hilton Chicago Hotel on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. It is a world-class venue, one of the most beautiful public spaces in the country. Each year for the past six years we’ve nearly filled the Grand Ballroom.

We start early, with a reception starting at 5:30 p.m. and dinner served at 7:00. Come early to rub elbows with old and new friends, academics, elected officials, and the leaders of think tanks from across the country!

Heartland’s anniversary dinners have become one of the country’s biggest annual celebrations of freedom. Last year more than 500 people attended! People come from all parts of the country to see old friends and make new ones. I hope you will join us for an absolutely wonderful evening of fine food, great speakers, and fascinating people to meet.

P.S. Heartland Libery Prize winners Dennis Avery and S. Fred Singer, Ph.D. will be in attendance! See here for more information about the Liberty Prize, and here for the recipients' bios.
