Karla Dial joined The Heartland Institute as managing editor of School Reform News in February 2005. She also served as managing editor of Health Care News between February 2006 and December 2007.

She started her career as a sports writer at The Desert Sun, then switched to features before leaving for a medical Web site. She is a contributing editor to Muscle & Fitness, Muscle & Fitness Hers, and Citizen.

Ms. Dial has reported on public policy issues for nearly a decade, and has a journalism degree from New Mexico State University. She makes her home in the Southwest.
