Heartland produces an increasing number of educational products available online or on DVDs and CDs.


Environment

  • The May 2008 issue of Environment & Climate News reports on global warming alarmism, recycling, carbon taxes, nuclear power, and more.

  • Heartland spokespeople were published in or cited by the Baltimore Sun, Investor’s Business Daily, and The Wall Street Journal; appeared on several television and radio talk shows; and had speaking engagements in states from Utah to New Hampshire.

  • Research & Commentary collections on carbon cap-and-trade and ethanol fuel were distributed.


Health Care

  • The May issue of Health Care News reports on individual insurance mandates, pharmaceutical marketing, and health savings accounts. The June issue highlights the failures of single-payer health care systems and addresses e-health, insurance regulation, and more.

  • Heartland spokespersons attended events in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, and Nevada.

  • We issued a media advisory applauding health care reform measures recently adopted in Georgia.


Education

  • The May issue of School Reform News addresses homeschooling, dropouts, and school finance. The June issue reports on Florida vouchers, No Child Left Behind, A Nation at Risk, and more.

  • Heartland spokespersons were published in the Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal and appeared on a Connecticut talk radio program.

  • Heartland cosponsored a luncheon with the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation and will exhibit at the National Charter School Conference.


Information Technology & Telecom

  • The May issue of InfoTech & Telecom News addresses network neutrality, municipal broadband, and taxes. The June issue covers copyright law, e-voting, music downloading, and more.

  • Managing Editor Joshua Treviño appeared on a Florida talk radio program and was published in The Wall Street Journal Asia.


Budget & Tax

  • The June issue of Budget & Tax News highlights unionization, prevailing-wage rules, and labor union finances, plus sales taxes in Chicago, Washington’s tax cap, tobacco taxes, postal service reform, airport privatization, and more.

  • Managing Editor Steve Stanek was published in the Chicago Sun-Times, as was Heartland Policy Advisor John Skorburg.


Insurance & Finance

  • Heartland distributed information on the optional federal charter, property and casualty insurance, payday lending, and subprime mortgages.

  • Legislative Specialist Matthew Glans was published in, and Heartland was cited by, the Akron Beacon Journal, The Wall Street Journal, the Palm Beach Post, and the St. Petersburg Times.

  • Heartland spokespersons appeared on radio programs in Florida and Illinois, and Glans attended a symposium at Northwestern University.


Urban Affairs

  • Heartland Senior Fellow Lee H. Walker was honored at the 11th Annual Awards Benefit of 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc.

  • Walker appeared on talk radio, was quoted in USA Today and The Washington Times, and was published by Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times.
