The July issue of IT Update reports on the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 14 decision not to review a lower court’s rejection of FCC rules requiring incumbent phone companies to share their network facilities at regulated rates. Observers now hope the industry will begin to rely less on government regulation and more on voluntary contracts freely negotiated among telecom providers.
