The September 2005 issue of IT&T News highlights municipal broadband activity in July. That month, Lafayette, Louisiana voters voted to proceed with a $125 million citywide fiber broadband system; Jupiter Research predicted one of every two municipal broadband systems will fail to break even; and the Acworth, Georgia city council voted to raise property taxes to cover a $1 million bond payment on that town's municipal broadband system.
