Gerd-Rainer Weber

Gerd Weber undertook undergraduate and graduate studies in atmospheric sciences at the Free University of Berlin, during which time he was a Fulbright and Indiana University Scholar. Further study in America gained him an M.Sc. degree in atmospheric sciences from the University of Michigan. He returned to the Free University of Berlin to study for his Meteorology Ph.D. in conjunction with the Max-Planck Institute of Aeronomy.

Since 1985, Gerd-Rainer Weber has been a scientist with the German Coal Mining Association. He is responsible for scientific research, policy analyis and consultancy in the fields of the environmental impact of coal use, particularly problems related to air pollution and global warming. He is a member of various environmental working groups within German industry and international agencies. He carries out independent research on climate related issues and publishes both in the peer reviewed and in the trade literature. He makes frequent contributions to conferences. His book on global warming was published in both English and German editions.
