John H. Beck received his B.A. in Mathematics in 1971 and Ph.D. in Economics in 1976, both from Michigan State University.

Dr. Beckwas on the faculty of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1977 to 1987 and has taught at Gonzaga University since 1988.  He served on the Ohio Tax Policy Advisory Committee in 1983 and Washington State's Tax Structure Study Committee in 2001-2002. He is a Policy Advisor to The Heartland Institute.

His research, focused on economics and religion, experimental economics, public choice, and state and local government finance, has been published in numerous journals including the American Journal of Economics and Sociology, Business Ethics Quarterly, The American Economist, Eastern Economic Journal, Regional Science and Urban Economics, the National Tax Journal, and Public Choice.
