Scott joined is the Foundation Manager for The Heartland Institute.

Scott joined The Heartland Institute in April of 2018. Previously, he was the major donor development officer responsible for the western United States for First Liberty Institute, a law firm that defends First Amendment, religious freedom cases. Prior to First Liberty Scott was the personal publicist to Dr. David Jeremiah and the director of public relations for Turning Point, the largest syndicated Bible teaching ministry in the world.

Joining Heartland is a homecoming for Walsh, who was born and raised in the Chicago area. In his eclectic career he has done many things, from sports writing to public relations and corporate communications, including 12 years in the golf industry—he has even been honored to serve on three White House advance teams during the administration of President George W. Bush. Scott and his wife Monica have been married for nearly 20 years. They (actually, Monica) homeschooled their son, Jack, who aspires to be a professional ice hockey goalie.
