38th Anniversary Benefit Dinner
Freedom is fragile. Who will fight for us when we’re not free?
Please join me, hundreds of other lovers of liberty, and The Heartland Institute’s Board of Directors for an unforgettable and inspiring evening with one of the world’s greatest advocates for liberty: human rights activist Yeonmi Park.
I hope you will accept my invitation to meet Yeonmi Park, as well as the whole Heartland team and me, on Friday, October 21, 2022, in the well-appointed ballroom at the Marriott Chicago O’Hare in Chicago, Illinois.
At this year’s event, we will award Ms. Park the Heartland Liberty Prize for displaying immense personal courage and perseverance in the face of unimaginable oppression. Her story is a bracing reminder that the comfortable society we take for granted in the West is not even a dream for millions of people trapped in totalitarian societies around the globe. Ms. Park notes that she didn’t learn the word “I” until she was an adult. Even the word “love” in North Korea has but one meaning, love for the Dear Leader – so thorough is that society’s dedication to collective thought directed to the “god” at the top of society.
The prisoners of the Hermit Kingdom of North Korea have no concept of individual liberty. They don’t even have the language to express a desire to be free in the darkest place on earth. Heartland is proud to award the brave Yeonmi Park with this prestigious prize, and I look forward to hearing her powerful message reminding us how valuable and fragile freedom truly is.
I will also provide updates on landmark legislation passed this year that will help protect free speech, and I’ll explain the important role Heartland is playing in the growing fights in our country for free markets and individual liberty.
There is much to celebrate — together and in person again! I sincerely hope you will join us. Reserve individual tickets or a table of 10, and meet us in Chicago on October 21 to honor Yeonmi Park and support the cause of freedom with family and friends.
