The Collapse of Communism

Robert Buchar makes a compelling case that the dissolution of the Soviet Union did not bring about the end of global communism.

Robert Buchar, the producer of the documentary film “The Collapse of Communism: The Untold Story,” was at the Andrew Breitbart Freedom Center at The Heartland Institute on Wednesday, September 28, for a showing of excerpts from his 107-minute film and to discuss how he made the film.

Buchar, himself a defector from Czechoslovakia in 1980, interviewed dozens of prominent defectors from the Soviet Union, historians, political scientists (including Angelo Codevilla, the keynote speaker at The Heartland Institute’s anniversary benefit in 2015), and former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to uncover the true story of how and why the Soviet Union fell. He discovered evidence that the “collapse of communism” was mostly disinformation, a false story meant to distract the world’s attention from the continued rule of Russia by its criminal class.
