In today's Health Care News Podcast, Brian Blase, senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, joined Health Care News Managing Editor Michael Hamilton to discuss the disparity between promises many Americans were told the Affordable Care Act (ACA) would fulfill, and the stunning reality three years into the ACA's implementation and six years after President Barack Obama signed the ACA into law.

Blase and Hamilton walk through the ruins. For most individuals and employers, health insurance costs more. Only half the number of people expected to gain coverage in the federal exchanges have done so. More Americans are insured, but the primary vehicle for insuring them has been expansion of Medicaid at the state level, an expensive program notorious for delivering sub-par health care. Insurers have dropped out or severely narrowed provider networks, limiting quality and consumer choice.
