Dental Therapy with Community Catalyst (Guest: Tera Bianchi)

March 12, 2019

The Heartland Institute's health care policy advisor Sarah Lee interviews Tera Bianchi, a dental therapy project lead with Community Catalyst. She serves as the point of contact for a new dental therapy partnership with the National Indian Heath Board.

Community Catalyst, a non-profit that seeks to connect critical services to underserved community members, has entered into a partnership with the National Indian Health Board that will focus on bringing dental therapy to areas underserved by dental practices. Tera Bianchi, the project lead with Community Catalyst, speaks with The Heartland Institute about the new partnership, model legislation they're promoting in states interested in drafting dental therapy bills, and some of the challenges and successes of the dental therapy push. Bianchi also defines dental therapy as it relates to dentistry, what patients can expect from dental therapists, and how the practice can serve patients, lower costs, and reduce the burden on existing dentists.
