Discussing the Janus Ruling and What Comes Next (Guest: Mark Mix)

July 9, 2018

After Janus v. AFSCME, public sector workers are no longer compelled to pay union dues. The question is, what comes next?

On today’s episode of the Heartland Daily Podcast, Lennie Jarratt, project manager of the Center for Transforming Education, discusses the Janus v. AFSCME ruling with Mark Mix, president of the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation (nrtw.org). Mix summarizes the Janus case, its ruling, implications for the unions, and the cases leading up to Janus.

Mix also discusses several of the future cases currently in federal courts. Some of these future cases involve issues of past dues that nonmembers were forced to pay, time limits, other draconian rules for opting out of union membership, and issues with rules setup by the National Labor Relations Board.  Mix also talks about how much more work there is left to clarify and enforce the Janus ruling across the country.
