Robert Lawson joins the podcast to discuss his annual report on Economic Freedom of the World and his forthcoming book, Socialism Sucks. Robert discusses trends in economic freedom in the United States and countries—both developed and poor—around the world. He talks about his travels to unfree countries, such as Venezuela, and the renewed interest in Socialism among Millennials. He found that economically freer areas tend to grow faster and have higher incomes than less free ones.

Lawson is professor of practice and Jerome M. Fullinwider Centennial Chair in Economic Freedom and is director of the O’Neil Center for Global Markets and Freedom at the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Cox School of Business.
