As the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) report on fossil fuels shows, coal, natural gas, and oil are responsible for the tremendous progress human society has experienced over the past 200 years. Electricity is responsible for modern medicine, lighting, and refrigeration. Fossil fuels power that and the agricultural revolution, bringing billions of people out of poverty and into longer, healthier, and more productive lives.
