Freedom for All Instead of Medicare for All (Guest: Jane Orient)

April 26, 2019

“Medicare for All” is gaining traction because the public is under the mistaken belief that it means free healthcare. Jane Orient argues that is false and we must avoid a governmental takeover of health care.

Jane Orient takes on the most common argument defending Medicare for All. This position argues that a Medicare “expansion is cheaper than what we are currently paying,” and “health care comprises a smaller percentage of GDP in countries with single-payer systems.”  She describes why socialism is drawn to controlling healthcare and how we can actually wind down Medicare to price levels where we don’t need the government to help pay for it.  She describes how providers are already working outside the entitlement system to their and their patients’ delight.
