July 6, 2021

In Episode XXXVII of Ill Literacy, Tim Benson talks with Michael R. Strain, author of “The American Dream Is Not Dead (But Populism Could Kill It)”

Heartland’s Tim Benson is joined by Michael R. Strain, Director of Economic Policy Studies and the Arthur F. Burns Scholar in Political Economy at the American Enterprise Institute to discuss his new book, The American Dream Is Not Dead (But Populism Could Kill It). They discuss how according to measures of economic opportunity and quality of life, there has never been a better time to be an American. They also chat about what the populists on both the left and right get wrong in their critique of economic policy and the American economy, and how their rhetoric is pernicious and dangerous and possibly threatens the country.
