Donny Kendal and John Nothdurft, with the help of Charlie Katebi, present episode #158 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. This week's episode features work from the Cato Institute, the World Bank, The Heartland Institute, the Idaho Freedom Foundation, the Yankee Institute for Public Policy, and Pew Charitable Trusts.

In the first segment,Donny, John and Charlie talk about a report from the World Bank that highlights how extreme poverty around the world has hit an all-time low. To support this conclusion, Donny brings up the Cato Institute's website, which shows progress across a multitude of topics that adds to the standard of living of societies around the world.

Next, Donny and John ask Charlie about a Heartland Institute Policy Brief he recently co-wrote with the Idaho Freedom Foundation titled "Don't Buy the Hype: Medicaid Expansion Would Be a Disaster for Idaho." Despite what consulting firms may claim, Medicaid expansion would cost governments and taxpayers dearly.

Next, the trio discuss a report from Pew Charitable Trusts that shows the economic expansion in personal income since 2007 by state. A Yankee Institute for Public Policy article, titled "Connecticut has Lowest Personal Income Growth Since 2007, According to Pew," explains why Connecticut finds itself at the bottom of this ranking.

Last, they talk about a couple of ballot initiatives in Colorado that could have a profound negative financial impact on the state.
Amendment 74 & Initiative 97.
