Donny Kendal and John Nothdurft are back in episode #164 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. This week's episode features work from The Heartland Institute, Manhattan Institute, and the Cato Institute.
Before jumping into the topics on hand, Donny and John talk about Heartland's Benefit Dinner. John recounts the event itself and some of the fans he met that night. They also talk about Halloween and a few of the terrible Halloween laws that exist across the country.
The PolicyBot featured work of the week this week comes from the Manhattan Institute. Their report, titled "A Comprehensive Federal Budget Plan to Avert a Debt Crisis," outlines how America is speeding toward a cliff in terms of debt and deficits. The heart of the report focuses on a blueprint to stave off the debt crisis by reforming government programs quickly before the situation gets worse.
Last, Donny and John talk about the Cato Institute's "Fiscal Policy Report Card on America's Governors 2018." This report factors in 7 variables to determine a fiscal grade for each of America's governors. Donny and John discuss the ranking and compare the results to an article by the Morning Consult which ranks the governors based on their popularity in their state.
