Its a full studio today as Donny Kendal is joined by John Nothdurft, Justin Haskins and Isaac Orr in episode #167 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today's episode features work from The Tax Foundation, The Heritage Foundation, and the Commonwealth Foundation.

In the first segment of the show, the group talks about the riots taking place in France over the new gas tax. Demonstrations started last week over a $0.30 increase to gas taxes in France. If this change, small in comparison to plans of fervent environmentalists, led to a such a violent reaction, how would people react if more sweeping regulations were to take effect?

Next, they talk about an article from The Heritage Foundation titled "Universal Basic Income Has Been Tried Before. It Didn't Work." The author of this piece compares current attempts at a UBI with past experiments with the Negative Income Tax. These past experiments resulted in reduced "desired hours of work" and longer unemployed spells for those in between jobs.

In the final segment of the episode, they talk about an article from the Commonwealth Foundation titled "Teacher Shortage? Try Competition." The author of this article highlights several policy changes that could fix the teacher shortage problem. The group then discusses the reasons that prevent School Choice from becoming more widespread.
