The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from the Cato Institute, Reason, and the Pacific Research Institute.

Policybot Featured Work of the Week

This week's Policybot featured work of the week comes from the Cato Institute. John and Donny discuss the Cato Handbook for Policymakers. This book presents policy prescriptions for a staggering about of topics, from state regulations to foreign policy and probably everything in between. John and Donny take a long at a few of these topics.

Other Think Tank Works

The next item is an article produced by Reason. The article, titled "With Sales Depressed by Soda Tax, Philly Grocers Look to Cut Jobs as Mayor Blames 'Greedy' Soda Industry," illustrates the shortcomings of sin taxes.

Next, John and Donny discuss an article from the Pacific Research Institute titled "Government Policies Perpetuate Poverty in California." The article explores why California has a population where 22% is living under the poverty line.

In the last segment, Donny presents John with a proposed piece of legislation coming from the state of Iowa which seeks to induce balance between political ideologies within the state's universities.
