Lindsey Burke: How Will the Trump Administration Influence Education?

June 5, 2017

Lindsey Burke, Heritage Foundation education expert, discusses what the federal role in education should and shouldn't be, how the new administration has performed so far, and what she expects the future holds.

Lindsey Burke, director of the Heritage Foundation's Center for Education Policy and Will Skillman Fellow in Education in the Institute for Family, Community, and Opportunity, joins the show to explain why the federal government has no place in regulating education policy. Burke discusses what the Trump administration can and should do to limit interference, and rates the administration's performance so far, noting it's difficult to cut programs and funding when the education establishment is so well-entrenched within the system. Burke also reasons why ridding education from as much government oversight as possible is what's best for families and our nation as a whole.
