Low Energy Prices Benefit American Manufacturers and Consumers (Guest: Ross McKitrick)

March 8, 2018

To get manufacturing back in the US, energy prices will have to be lowered. For this to occur, fossil fuels must be a major source of energy.

One of the President Trump’s campaign promises was increasing US manufacturing. According to Trump, making America great again requires manufacturing to take place in America. Unfortunately, rising electricity prices threaten the viability of American manufacturers because this industry uses massive amounts of energy.

On today's episode of The Heartland Daily Podcast, Ross McKitrick, a Canadian economist who specializes in energy and environmental policy issues, joins the show. He is a professor of economics at the University of Guelph and speaks with Isaac Orr about the impact high electricity prices have had on Canadian manufacturing.
