Mining to Mineral Independence (Guest: Ann Bridges)

January 3, 2019

Technology Entrepreneur and Author Ann Bridges explains why the United States needs to begin mining minerals critical to modern electronics, energy systems, and defense products to end our dependence on China.

In their new book Groundbreaking! America's New Quest for Mineral Independence, Ann Bridges and Dr. Ned Mamula of the U.S. Geological Survey explain the economic and national security dangers of continued reliance on Chinese minerals. China uses this dependence to its geopolitical advantage, and the U.S. needs to break the stranglehold and tap our abundant domestic stock of critical minerals. The U.S. must remove regulations in order to mine safely and in an environmentally sound manner.
