Olivia Dennison: Classical Learning Test vs. the ACT

October 19, 2017

Olivia Dennison, a homeschooled student from West Virginia, joins the show to talk about her experience taking both the ACT and the Classical Learning Test, a new ACT/SAT alternative.

Olivia Dennison, a homeschooled student hailing from West Virginia, discusses what it was like taking both the ACT and the Classical Learning Test, a new ACT/SAT alternative. Dennison talks about her upbringing and her experience being taught at home, and shares why she preferred taking the CLT.

The ACT and SAT are both tied to Common Core and state standards, while the CLT offers an alternative for students who have no experience with such standards and who want to keep it that way. More and more colleges are beginning to accept the CLT as a means to judge student college-readiness. Dennison offers advice for students who will be taking the ACT and/or CLT.
