Seth Giertz, senior research fellow with the Colloquium for the Advancement of Free-Enterprise Education, joins the podcast to talk about home prices and property taxes.

Seth Giertz joins the podcast to talk about home prices and property taxes. Seth talks about past housing bubbles, cost-increasing regulations, mortgage lending, and the effect of the federal cap on state and local tax (SALT) deductions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. He discusses the justification for property taxation, and problems with relying on consumption taxes, such as a sales, FAIR tax or VAT.

Giertz is a senior research fellow with the Colloquium for the Advancement of Free-Enterprise Education and an associate professor of economics in the UT Dallas School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences.
