Historian and Author Larry Schweikart joins the podcast to talk about his new book “Reagan: The American President.” For his book, Schweikart used new and exclusively obtained administration documents from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, offering fresh insights on one of the greatest presidencies of the 20th century. Schweikart and Heartland Director of Communications Jim Lakely talk about some of Reagan’s greatest triumphs as president, how Reagan taught himself to be an intellectual, one of his greatest failures (Lebanon), and the similarities that are already obvious between Reagan, Donald Trump, and their presidencies.
