The Credentialed Court: Inside the Cloistered, Elite World of American Justice

May 3, 2022

In Episode 67 of Ill Literacy, Tim Benson talks with Benjamin H. Barton, author of “The Credentialed Court: Inside the Cloistered, Elite World of American Justice.”

Heartland’s Tim Benson is joined by Benjamin H. Barton of the University of Tennessee College of Law to discuss his new book, The Credentialed Court: Inside the Cloistered, Elite World of American Justice. They chat about how different today’s Justices are from their predecessors, how they spend most of their adult lives in elite and cloistered institutions, how the Court lacks individuals who reflect differing kinds of professional and personal merit, and what can be done to return Justices to the Court with a wider range of legal and political experience.
