The Evolution of the News Media (Guest: Bill Murchison)

June 3, 2019

The news media is facing increased scrutiny, rightfully so, during the Trump presidency. How has the news gotten to where it is today?

Bill Murchison, a nationally syndicated columnist and former editor at the Dallas Morning News, joins the podcast to talk about the evolution of the news media from a near monopoly in broadcasting to a social media advocacy platform over the course of his long career. Bill is the author of five books, and discusses The Cost of Liberty: The Life of John Dickinson, a biography of one of the most misunderstood Founding Fathers.

Murchison is a senior fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, in Austin, and research fellow at the Institute for Policy Innovation in Irving, Texas.

Bill received a BA from The University of Texas and an MA from Stanford University, both in history.
