The High Cost of Big Wind and Solar Subsidies (Guest: Bill Peacock)

March 25, 2019

Texas provides billions of dollars in subsidies to uncompetitive wind and solar power companies, robbing taxpayers and damaging the reliability of the electric power grid.

Bill Peacock, vice president of research at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, describes a campaign the Foundation has launched to revise and end various subsidies to industrial wind and solar companies. Wind and solar power cost taxpayers billions and undermine the reliability of Texas’ electric power grid. In addition, it’s all in a misguided attempt to reduce carbon dioxide to fight climate change, which is unnecessary since carbon dioxide is not a pollutant.
