Allen talks about the inspiration all Americans can take from the life and work of Prof. Washington, and what can be done to reverse the decline in the black family since the Great Society programs of the 1960s fostered a culture of dependence. 

West is a former Member of Congress from Florida and director of the Booker T. Washington Initiative at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
