The Partnership for America's Health Care Future (Guest: Lauren Crawford Shaver and David Merritt)

March 6, 2019

The Heartland Institute's health care policy advisor Sarah Lee interviews members of a new partnership called the Partnership for America's Health Care Future.

According to both Shaver and Merritt, the goal of their new venture was to promote affordable and superior quality care by taking a close look at the health care system as it exists outside the political debate to discover what things were working, instead of simply focusing on what was broken. The partnership includes members from across the health care spectrum — doctors, community-based hospitals, health insurance providers, biopharmaceutical companies, clinicians, and health care policy experts. They are, as Merritt and Shaver detail in this podcast, dedicated to empowering patients to take control of their health care decisions by educating them on new developments and options at the federal level, protecting the doctor-patient relationship, and building on the stability of the parts of the system that work. With the ultimate goal being to improve patient care and help people find affordable insurance.
