The Post-Obamacare Future at the Federal Level

May 14, 2018

In her inaugural podcast, Managing Editor Sarah Lee examines the future of health care post-Obamacare at the federal and state level.

Now that the Trump Administration has nullified Obamacare’s individual mandate, Managing Editor Sarah Lee examines what the health care landscape looks like at the federal level. The federal level tends to inform what kind of leverage states will end up having to innovate when it comes to offering health insurance.

In this episode, Lee discusses HHS Secretary Alex Azar's hearing before Senate Democrats. Azar explained how short-term insurance plans can help alleviate rising premiums insurance providers are threatening to impose. Democrats have already made those premium spikes an issue for the 2018 midterm elections, and Azar does a fine job in explaining how the spikes can be controlled through short-term plans and reinsurance plans.
