William Yeatman: First Steps for the Trump Administration: Champion Affordable Energy

January 4, 2017

William Yeatman details the harms imposed on the energy sector and beyond by the Obama administration and what the Trump administration can do to reverse that harm and expand energy production and economic progress.

Environmental groups who supported the Obama administration were given the keys to the EPA where, driven by an ideologically based hatred of fossil fuels, they have done their best to shut down the production and use of coal, oil, and natural gas. This CEI report shows systematic steps the President-elect Trump could take to reverse illegal and unnecessary climate regulations, while still protecting the environment.

Besides rolling back flawed energy regulation, CEI recommends Trump's nominated new head of EPA, Scott Pruitt, respect the balance of power between the federal government and the states as designed in the clean air and clean water acts which calls for cooperative federalism. Under Obama, the EPA has increasingly usurped powers delegated by law to the states.
