August 15, 2022
In Exploring Energy ep3, Linnea Lueken covers the ins and outs of the United States' use of biofuels. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandates blending biofuels into gasoline, imposing higher costs on Americans in the process. Immediately after Senate passage, the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” was praised in the corporate media and among activists on the left as being the most-significant climate action the U.S. government in our history. But just like the bill won't improve our runaway inflation rate, it will also do absolutely nothing to improve our weather or decrease the global temperature by the end of the century. After about $400 billion more in taxpayer subsidies for green energy, the temperature might decrease by between about three-hundredths (0.028F) of a degree and nine-ten thousandths (0.0009F) of a degree. Maybe. On this edition of Climate Change Roundtable, The Heartland Institute's H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Steve Milloy join Host Jim Lakely to discuss the "climate fighting" aspects of the latest Washington boondoggle spending bill. Just how bad is it? The Heartland Institute's Jim Lakely, Chris Talgo, and S.T. Karnick talk about the growing possibility that President Biden will officially declare a "climate emergency," seizing broad powers to shove the Green New Deal down our throats. Biden's climate speech in Massachusetts on Wednesday was a mess, and didn't go that far, but what if he does? The In The Tank crew discuss on episode #355 of the podcast. We also cover the one-year anniversary of Biden assuring America that rising inflation was only "temporary," and how Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is glad gas prices are high, all the better to get people into electric vehicles. Speaking of those, a real-world test of an electric Ford F-150 towing a trailer went poorly ... as anyone with a brain would have suspected. The president could even use the power to curtail the movement of fossil fuels on pipelines, trains and ships. Among those who have lobbied the White House in recent days to invoke the emergency authority, which was used by former President Donald Trump to begin construction of a border wall, was Senator Ed Markey a Democrat of Massachusetts, an author of the Green New Deal. The Biden administration just gave a giant middle finger to Americans across the country struggling to deal with record high gas prices. To combat the sky high energy prices, Biden released oil from America's Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Here's the kicker. That oil wasn't used to bolster supply and lower prices. It was sold to a company controlled by the Chinese Communist Party. Check out the full episode of Climate Change Roundtable at this link:

Joe Biden wants to blame high energy prices on Putin. Americans aren't buying it. Everything Biden has done since taking office has weakened the energy sector, inflicting suffering on Americans along the way. Now, Biden is releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to try and lower prices, but it's failing.

Americans across the country are feeling the effects of self-inflicted natural gas shortages. Joe Biden and the Democrat party want to blame Russia, but the reality is that anti-energy policies put in place by the Biden administration pushed America into this costly hole. Linnea Lueken, research fellow on Climate and Environmental Policy at The Heartland Institute, discusses the facts, history, and policy surrounding liquefied natural gas (LNG). Simply put, LNG is essential to American energy sovereignty, lower electricity costs, and the capacity to support our allies abroad.
