The Heartland Institute's Donald Kendal, Jim Lakely, Chris Talgo and special guest Steve Milloy of discuss the latest alarmist climate report from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The so-called "AR6 Report" is getting a ton of attention in the media, and all the coverage is gloom and doom. But is that really the case? What does the report really say, and is there a climate crisis caused by human activity? And, if there is, what can/should we do about it? As The Heartland Institute is getting ready for our big climate conference in Las Vegas October 15-17 (ICCC-14), we wanted to offer you some sneak previews of what the program will look like. And how better to do that than to invite our speakers to give previews of the presentations they are preparing? In our sixth in this series, join us LIVE on YouTube Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. ET (1:00 p.m. CT) as Dr. Patrick Michaels, Senior Fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the CO2 Coalition, gives a sneak peek of his Las Vegas presentation. In this preview, Michaels will discuss "Climate Models vs. Reality." ABOUT PATRICK MICHAELS' PRESENTATION Even the legacy mega journals, such as Nature and, more recently, Science, are now carrying articles documenting that the newest generation of climate models, known as CMIP-6, are generally supplied with the wrong input data, with completely unrealistic future emission levels. As a result, they are predicting far too much warming for recent and future decades. Further, even with better input, the models continue to overpredict warming. The same recent Science article dramatically exaggerated observed temperature changes in the past decade. In reality, we inhabit a modestly warming planet, where the causes are a mix of internal and human-related inputs. But the greening of the earth, which is especially concentrated over the world’s tropical rainforests and high-latitude land areas of the Northern Hemisphere, is almost entirely of human origin. There is also little credible evidence for increasingly violent weather, and much more evidence that increasing weather damages are a result of rising property values and population density, especially in highly desired coastal regions. Joe Biden met with a group of governors to discuss the wildfires running rampant across the Western United States. Many of the liberal governors blamed climate change. This is incorrect. H. Sterling Burnett, senior fellow on environmental policy for The Heartland Institute, joins NTD News to reveals the real reason we're seeing all the wildfires.

In our fourth in this series, streamed live on June 17, Roy Spencer, Ph.D., principal research scientist for the University of Alabama in Huntsville, gives a sneak peek of his presentation at The Heartland Institute's 14th International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC-14) on Oct. 15-17 in Las Vegas. In this preview, Spencer discussed "What Recent Ocean Warming Suggests About Future Global Warming." The warming predicted by the latest climate models in response to a doubling of atmospheric CO2 averages close to 4C. Using an updated model – and even assuming all warming has been due to human activity – Spencer and a colleague suggest that future warming is likely to turn out much lower. In fact, even if we don’t reduce human carbon dioxide emissions, the world may still hit the United Nations’ stated goal of keeping warming at no more than 1.5C by the end of the century. In our second in this series of previews of Heartland's 14th International Conference on Climate Change in Las Vegas in October (, Climate Depot's Marc Morano joined us for a live-stream on May 11 for a sneak peek of his planned presentation. Morano talked about his new book, "Green Fraud: Why the Green New Deal is even worse than you think." Defund the police to fight climate change? Ban meat? Eat insects? Ban automobiles? Morano laid out the threats faced by The Green New Deal. Morano explained the COVID-climate connection and how the progressives are using COVID-19 lockdowns as the precedent for coming climate lockdowns. Morano talked about how this may be the left’s ticket to a Great Reset in America. Are you ready for daily "climate change" death tolls? Morano explained how activists want to add climate change as a cause of death to death certificates. If you really care about the environment, government policy would be the opposite of what the UN and the Green New Deal propose. Marc shows how free markets, economic prosperity, technological revolution, and wealth result in the cleanest environments.

In this preview of Heartland’s 14th International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC-14) on Oct. 15-17 in Las Vegas, the Heritage Foundation’s Kevin Dayaratna, Ph.D., gave a brief presentation on his new paper with Ross McKitrick and Patrick Michaels on climate sensitivity, agricultural productivity and the social cost of carbon. This event was live-streamed at 3 p.m. ET on April 22, 2021. About Kevin Dayaratna: In my research at Heritage, I have extensively examined the integrated assessment models used to estimate the social cost of carbon (SCC) that have been used as a basis for regulating the energy sector of our economy. In particular, I have examined their robustness to a variety of assumptions, including specification of a discount rate, time horizon, and an equilibrium climate sensitivity distribution and found that these models are highly sensitive to reasonable changes to these assumptions and thus highly prone to user manipulation. In this research (co-authored with Ross McKitrick and Pat Michaels) published in the peer reviewed journal Environmental Economics and Policy Studies, we examine yet another assumption in one of the integrated assessment models - the agricultural productivity component of the FUND model. We find that this assumption is based on outdated research and vastly understated. Under a variety of reasonable adjustments to this aspect of the model, however, the FUND model results in a net zero or negative SCC, suggesting that there may be effectively zero or perhaps even net benefits due to a moderate amount of climate change.

Heartland Institute President James Taylor was a guest on C-SPAN's flagship morning program, "Washington Journal," on Friday, January 29 to talk about President Biden's climate and energy plans. Taylor explained how and why canceling the Keystone XL pipeline was a bad idea, talked about how so-called "green" energy would actually cause enormous environmental damage, and took questions from C-SPAN's famously eccentric callers.
