Share this video, which The Heartland Institute put together with the permission and help of our friends at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, who compiled this report. https://cei.org/blog/wrong-again-50-years-failed-eco-pocalyptic-predictions Modern doomsayers have been predicting climate and environmental disaster since the 1960s. They continue to do so today. None of the apocalyptic predictions with due dates as of today have come true. What follows is a collection of notably wild predictions from notable people in government and science. More than merely spotlighting the failed predictions, this collection shows that the makers of failed apocalyptic predictions often are individuals holding respected positions in government and science. While such predictions have been and continue to be enthusiastically reported by a media eager for sensational headlines, the failures are typically not revisited. Thanks go to Tony Heller, who first collected many of these news clips and posted them on RealClimateScience. https://realclimatescience.com/ For more information about what's really going on with our climate, visit Climate Change Reconsidered and the archive of the International Conferences on Climate Change at the links below. http://climatechangereconsidered.org/ http://climateconferences.heartland.org/ Other links: https://www.heartland.org/index.html https://cei.org/

This weekly podcast features discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. It's time for both sides to make the case: What is happening to our climate and what can we do about it? On September 23 in the Big Apple – on the same day and in the same city the United Nations will convene its Climate Summit before it's General Assembly session – The Heartland Institute will host a debate on what is happening to our climate and what we can do about it. That's a debate long-delayed, but never more important than now. We've cordially invited some of the country's most-prominent advocates for taking immediate action on climate change: Kevin Trenberth, Michael Mann, Don Wuebbles, Katherine Hayhoe, Brenda Ekwurzel, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. They blame human activity for global warming, insist it will be catastrophic to life on Earth, and demand big changes to the way Americans live, work, eat, travel, and build. If those claims are correct, then it's time to make the case to the American people – who are skeptical of the scope of the problem and have not been asked their consent to those proposed solutions. The Heartland Institute will bring a team of scientists, policy experts, and (maybe) a public official to represent the "climate realist" side of the debate. Doesn't the wholesale reordering of our society demand at least a little bit of public debate? We think so. This debate will be live-streamed from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET at Heartland.org. Tune in so you can make up your mind for yourself.

The event is a part of AFP’s national “Unrig the Economy” campaign, a multiyear, multimillion-dollar effort dedicated to creating a stronger economy by leveling the playing field for all. Americans for Prosperity-Illinois (AFP-IL) is co-hosting an “Unrig the Economy” dinner event with the Heartland Institute in Arlington Heights on September 19, 2019. The policy discussion will focus on why Congress should not bring back tax extenders or reauthorize the Export-Import Bank – two blatant examples of corporate welfare. PANELISTS: Moderator: Brian Costin, Deputy State Director of AFP - IL Russ Latino, Vice President - Economic Development Portfolio at Americans for Prosperity Adam Andrzejewski - CEO & Founder of OpenTheBooks.com Frank Lasee, President, Heartland Institute “Illinoisans know better than most [how] government can rig the game in favor of special interests. Often, economic success is decided by political favoritism and who you know. Instead of rigging our economy by picking winners and losers lawmakers should work to create equality of opportunity where everyone is treated the same by federal, state or local government,” said Brian Costin, AFP-IL Deputy State Director. “This event centers on how we can start to create an environment, in Illinois and nationally, where people succeed based on the value they create for consumers rather than hiring the best lobbyists to rig the system in their favor.”
