The Cato Institute and The Heartland Institute will release a new study on the San Antonio streetcar project on Wednesday, November 28 at 10 a.m. at an event at Broadway and Grayson in San Antonio, across the street from Sam's Burger Joint.
The study, titled "The Streetcar Fantasy," looks at the impacts streetcars have on economic development and mobility in other cities, and analyzes the San Antonio proposal. The study calls into question the costs and benefits of the city's streetcar project.
A copy of the study, which is embargoed until 10 a.m. CST on November 28, can be found here.
The study is authored by Randal O'Toole, Senior Fellow with the Cato Institute. Mr. O'Toole is an expert on transportation and land use policy and is the author of several books. Also speaking at the event will be Jeff Judson, director and senior fellow with the Heartland Institute. Mr. Judson is a resident of Olmos Park and served on the Olmos Park City Council until this past May.
