Does Nuclear Energy Have a Future in the United States?

Nuclear power is the cleanest source of electricity. If the U.S. wants it to continue to contribute to the nation’s power supply the Nuclear Regulatory Commission needs to reform the permitting process.

Nuclear power is the cleanest source of electricity, emitting no pollutants or carbon dioxide. However the nuclear licensing and permitting process is expensive and byzantine. If the U.S. wants nuclear power to continue to contribute to the nation’s power supply the Nuclear Regulatory Commission needs to reform the permitting process. The current process stymies innovation and results in nuclear companies being forced to rely on government support.
