This document offers a point-by-point rebuttal of a June 6th memo to elected officials from Peggy Borchert titled “I Oppose HB33.” HB 33 would create the Taxpayers’ Savings Grant Program (TSGP). That program would allow the parent or legal guardian of a school-age child residing in Texas who was entering kindergarten or first grade or who had attended a public school for all of the prior academic year to receive reimbursement for private school tuition up to the amount of tuition paid or 60 percent of state spending on maintenance and operations (M&O), whichever is less. An amended version of the Bill was submitted on June 7.

Text from Borchert’s memo appears below in black, while Behrend’s rebuttal appears in blue and is indented.
