The Immeasurable Benefits of Plastics to Humanity

September 14, 2021

Plastics have been a tremendous boon to humankind and policies restricting or banning them will make life worse.

Although efforts to curb the use of plastic may be grounded in good intentions, such as the desire to stop ocean pollution and adverse impacts on wildlife, as the old saying goes "the road to Hades is paved with good intentions." Laws aimed at limiting or even banning the use of plastics are likely to, unintentionally, result in  greater environmental harm than the harms they are hoping to prevent. This paper details how plastics have benefitted humanity, and how proposals to curb their use could produce devastating results for human well-being.
