The video interview with the Epoch Times, Siyamak Khorrami, on the California Insider program, was a conversation about the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about: the lack of energy literacy in the bizarre California energy policies.   The captivating and candid 35-minute video of the interview can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqTHHaujkWQ Correction: When the conversation was addressing the probable closure of two large refineries in Northern California, I i...

California's energy policies are leading us down the road to economic disaster. But it’ll be more than just Californians who pay. Unfortunately, California’s policies may drag other countries, and the auto industry as a whole, down with it. In the end, modern society cannot sustain itself without the thousands of products made using fossil fuels. And even if it could, slave labor is used to manufacture the green sources of electricity used globally. And no one mentions how destructive the enviro...

California Governor Newsom became further convinced that voters continue to support his bizarre energy policies when they defeated the 2021 California gubernatorial recall election on September 14, 2021, thus keeping the incumbent elected for the term January 2019 to January 2023. With California having the highest prices for fuel in the nation, the highest poverty and homeless rates, and barely able keep the lights on as its climate policies bite the electric grid, Governor Gavin Newsom is und...

https://www.heartland.org/news-opinion/news/newsoms-energy-regulations-have-oil-tankers-emitting-more-than-twice-what-all-of-californias-vehicle-fleet-do
California’s crude oil demands have been increasing year over year, since 1995, except for pandemic years.  Maritime transportation is one of the greatest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions.  Yet, Governor Newsom continually decreases in-state oil production, so California and the nation can be further dependent on imports via maritime transportation from foreign countries for the State’s crude oil energy demands. In international waters, the maritime fleet fuel consumption and emissions...

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has just amended their proposed regulations regarding commercial passenger harbor craft emission regulations that stood to remove 174 sportfishing and whale watching boats from the sea. CARB is requiring existing boat owners to replace or significantly modify existing engines to Tier 4 diesel technology. Key components of amended rules: Vessel owners that haven’t upgraded to Tier 3 engines already will be required to do so by January 1, 2025. Lower ...

https://www.heartland.org/news-opinion/news/the-bay-area-air-quality-management-district-favors-more-energy-costs-for-all-californians
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) voted overwhelmingly on July 21, 2021, to require refineries including the Chevron and PBF facilities in the East Bay to reduce the amount of air pollution they emit by installing expensive particulate scrubbers.   The proposed version of BAAQMD Rule 6-5 will barely reduce particulate emission reductions while raising the nation’s highest energy prices even higher, showing racial bias by impacting lower income African American and Hispanic ...

https://www.heartland.org/news-opinion/news/californias-energy-scorecard-fails-on-the-world-stage
California, with 0.5 percent of the world’s population (40 million vs 8 billion) professes to be the leader of everything and through its dysfunctional energy policies imports more electricity than any other state – currently at 32 percent from the Northwest and Southwest – and has forced California to be the only state in contiguous America that imports most of its crude oil energy demands from foreign country suppliers to meet the energy demands of the state. State energy policies have made C...

...ndency on foreign suppliers for California’s energy needs, as well as the West Coast military operations, has increased imported crude oil from foreign countries from 5 percent in 1992 to 58 percent today of total consumption as noted in theCalifornia Energy Commission chart. Any high school student can easily observe from the California Energy Commission data that California imports of crude oil from foreign countries via large oil tankers were the highest in the state’s history in 2018 at al...

https://www.heartland.org/news-opinion/news/video-californias-dysfunctional-energy-policies
California, with less than 0.5% of the world’s population (40 million vs. 8 billion), remains the state with the highest cost of electricity and fuels in the country and its dysfunctional energy policies are doing everything possible to further increase those costs to the detriment of those that can least afford it. The states’ pursuit of going green at any cost, appears to be oblivious to the fact that renewable energy is only renewable ELECTRICITY, and intermittent electricity at best.  Alex...

https://www.heartland.org/publications-resources/publications/the-biden-energy-plan-is-like-californiasbut-worse
From the study: Former Vice President and Democratic Party presidential nominee Joe Biden is setting aside $2 trillion for his “clean energy” plan that would replace fossil fuels on the electrical grid by 2035—10 years earlier than California’s state goal. California currently requires 60 percent of its generation to come from renewable energy by 2030 and 100 percent to come from zero-carbon sources by 2045.  California’s renewable energy polices have resulted in rolling blackouts during a r...
